Selfness II, D-Construct, Berlin 2007 (C) Mathias Vef/Schwarzrosagold

Pixels are visualised information, bytes with colour and luminosity. They are addictive and we always want more: ever higher resolutions, sharper television, more exact biometric data. We save masses of digital photos and on our travels through the Web we are inundated by virtual worlds. We come across constructed realities and create virtual identities for ourselves. In the magical digital world everything is possible but much of it is far from true. The pixel addiction glorifies reality and leaves behind a disturbingly blurred virtuality. What happens if you approach the situation from the other side?Take out pixels? Reduce and compress images until only a fraction remains? d.construct opens this space and looks between the reality of people, their cities and their identities on the Web.
